    Arc Flash Hazard Analysis and Arc Flash Labeling

    This analysis and associated labeling has become an important OSHA requirement.

    The analysis provides, among other things, a detailed assessment of the potential energy at each point in the system that would be released in the event of an arcing fault within the equipment. This potential arc flash energy must be calculated at each point in the system so that workers may be adequately protected, using properly rated personal protective equipment (PPE).

    The work and benefits include:

    • Detailed power distribution modeling using a comprehensive short circuit and load flow analysis program from SKM Systems Analysis, Inc.
    • Design safer power systems while applying the NEC 110.16, OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584 and NESC standards or requirements.
    • Fully integrated Short Circuit, Over-Current Coordination, Equipment Evaluation and Arc Flash Evaluation modules     working together with libraries of clothing levels, protective devices and bus ratings.
    • Provide a safer working environment by specifying the proper level of clothing. Wearing inadequate clothing is dangerous for obvious     reasons, but wearing too much clothing is dangerous due to limited mobility and visibility.
    • Evaluate alternatives quickly and easily to establish an optimal design.
    • Improve safety margins with user-definable arcing fault tolerances.
    • Automatically generates arc flash labels and work permits.

    Avoid potential fines, lost productivity, and increased insurance and litigation costs.

    Alternate Energy Project Design

    Numerous alternate energy projects have been successfully designed. We have met the challenges of many difficult design projects, including two recent large wind turbine projects. These projects required high levels of electrical engineering skills, including utility grade protective relaying, low impedance ground system testing and design, high voltage engineering, and prototype product development.
